We pulled into Cooktown this afternoon. We have been out in the bush for 4 days, and we are glad to get to have a good, long, hot shower, and do some washing!
We have lots of stories, and you will have to ask us, but here are a few photos to keep you amused.
Native bees in aman-made hive in Aurukun

 One of the locals...
One of the many wetlands we have visited....this one had about 20 Brolgas in it. That is 3 of them flying...
A weird looking pint tree with a hawks nest on top. This was in the middle of nowhere in Lakeland NP
A small Taipan crossing in front of the car. K & I later ran into one up close and personal while we were walking along the bank of the river.....Australia's deadliest snake!
Marg setting up for a photo at a billabong
Klaus with his baby barra!! Ask him how he caught it.
 Another one of the locals....
Crossing the Normanby river at Kalpower camp grounds
 Locals everywhere!
Here is one of the feral locals...
Our campsite....I am just saying hello to you all.
It's a hard life out here...
The river was beautiful....too bad about the fish.

  1. Those photo's are awesome. Must be a stunning area. What sort of fuel consumption have you been getting on the trip?
